After putting together a branding board for my blog, I have an itch to create more like it. I’m starting a new series here called Imagine the Brand, in which I’ll create a brand identity for made up companies. Make believe AND branding design? Double whammy awesomeness.
I’m starting today with Isn’t it Thyme Catering, which I imagine (join me in doing so, won’t you?) is a small boutique caterer customizing its menus for small, intimate events. Isn’t it Thyme is owned by a woman in her 30s, who takes care to use natural ingredients and herbs she grows herself in cooking, plating, and table design.
This color palette is both subtle and bold, relying on various hues of green, greys, and blues. I hand-sketched both the sprigs of thyme and the word thyme, which brings a uniqueness, one-of-kind feel to the logo. The sprigs in the logo are repeated in the alternate marks, and work well both vertically and horizontally. The brand has a feminine and natural feel, reflecting its (pretend) owner.
I don’t have much of an interest in cooking (or the thyme to do it these days, mwahahaha) but I’m considering opening a catering company now, so I can use this brand identity. I just love it.
