MEEP! You might have noticed I’ve got a new look around here! I’m so excited to finally have branded my own blog. Isn’t it funny how you can work on client stuff all the time but when it comes time to work for yourself, it’s pretty challenging (but really fun too). I’m psyched about my new branding y’all (so psyched that I forgot I’m not from the south and started saying, y’all).
My look is all about herringbone, hexagons, and handwriting. Here’s why:
I find a lot of my design inspiration in textures and fabrics. For some time now, I’ve been drooling over all things herringbone. It’s the new chevron and just so graphically interesting. It makes me happy. The “V” in my logo presented an awesome opportunity to introduce herringbone, which I can then carry into other patterns that will complement the logo.
I find myself super attracted to hexagons in design and kept revisiting them to use as an element in my branding but I kept asking… why? How do they fit? Every design element should have a reason behind it. I want to make sure I’m not just picking some trend I’ll be tired of next month. I decided to research hexagons – what exactly do they mean? Then things got a little mystic-y and a little awesome when I did. Hexagons, with their six sides, are said to symbolize communication, balance, and union. How cool?! These are all traits I feel fit well with my blog’s purpose. And so it was official; the hexagon would be a recurring shape in the Everyday Mojo brand. Done and Done. And done, done, done, done. That’s six dones. Okay, moving on.
A little something something was missing from my logo when I was working on drafts that used pretty script fonts for the word “mojo.” I wanted something more personal so I used my own handwriting and, boom, it all came together. Simple as that. Want something to look really “you?” Write it yourself!
You’ll notice I’ve updated my blog with my new design elements: a new header, new about page, I’ll be signing off with cute little images now, and I even updated my Facebook page (head over and like me there, won’t you?). Also, you should subscribe to be notified by email of new posts (now that my site is pretty and all – see the right hand sidebar to do so or if you’re on your phone, scroll down to the bottom).
Thanks for reading all!
