It’s been a busy week and there have been a couple instances that we’ve had to rely on our families to help out with Desmond even more than usual. He spent some quality time with his Auntie Beth mid-week while I got my hair done. It was so necessary and my new ‘do is putting a little extra pep in my step.
Last night while John and I ate the best steak we’d ever had, sipped liberally on red wine, and laughed with friends at a rehearsal dinner, Desmond’s Nana took good care of him. We didn’t get back to Des until after 11 o’clock and since the wine left our teeth a little purple and our heads a little silly, we decided to make it an old fashion sleepover and stayed over John’s parents’ house. Tick, tack, toe, three in a row, we slept in the double bed in John’s childhood room.
And on Saturday my sister will watch him again so we can party it up at the wedding. I really look forward to putting on heels and lipstick and catching a glimpse of my handsome husband in his tux.
I’m so grateful that we have the help and support of family so that we can get out and do the things grown-ups do on occasions like these, but I’m most grateful to come home to a smiling boy who missed me.
