Flashback to about four years ago, and you’d see a slightly-cuter-because-I-was-four-years-younger version of me telling you that I want to start a blog. What was I doing four years ago? Living with roommates, dating this cute guy (my now husband and baby-daddy), going out several times a week, cross-stitching while said roommates teased me that I was a Nana, and getting my start in graphic design.
If you met me two years after that I might have told you “Yes, I’m planning on starting a blog.” That is if I could find time between moving to the city, planning my wedding, and getting a little more involved in some freelance design. Oh, and stitching because I’m always stitching.
“Oh, you’ll have to check out my blog!” I would have told you a year ago if you bumped into me on the street. That’s when my husband and I learned that we were expecting our first babe. This blog would feature your standard soon-to-be-mom pictures, documenting my growing bump (and apparent love for stripes in late pregnancy). I even wrote a few posts but I wanted my blog to be perfect before I made it public and so, I never quite got there…
And even just a few months ago, I was just positive that I would finally become the blogger I was born to be. I’d be home on maternity leave for three whole months. I’d have all sorts of time, just me and the baby, to get a beautiful blog, set up and running, finally after all these years. I’m sure if I would have announced my plans of getting things accomplished during my first three months with the new baby out loud, my momma friends may have laughed at me. Or, being the polite and sweet people they are, maybe they would have smiled on the outside while on the inside they’d raise their eyebrows thinking, “Suuuuuure. Good luck with that.” Needless to say, I didn’t start the blog. I didn’t do any design work. And I didn’t even stitch! Momma was busy with baby things.
And now here I am today with a four month old dream-boat baby who finally lets me put him down (sometimes) and I’m sick of just talking about blogging. I’m going to blog about blogging already! And because what I do now includes designing, cross-stitching, setting up my new home, and mostly loving on my son – that’s what you’ll find here. I just couldn’t make excuses for another four years.
